CORE PRINCIPLES
Urged by his desire and hard-work mentality, C. Butler, after working for two different and well respected law firms, where he garnished valuable courtroom and transactional experience, decided to open the TBF Law Group. A client focused law firm in the central Texas area.
C. Butler enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantryman at the early age of 17. It was there that Mr. Butler began to learn the underlying principles which helped construct the foundation of the the TBF Law Group into what it is today. Those principles are: Honesty; Organization; and Preparation.
Mr. Butler firmly believes that with these fundamental principles along with a strong work ethic and hard-earned experience, success and results will flow down to the TBF Law Group clients. As lead attorney, Mr. Butler primarily spends his time providing legal assistance to local entrepeneurs and manages the firm's litigation department.

Carter Thompson comes to the TBF Law Group from a background in litigation and journalism, and brings his attention to detail, extensive investigative and writing experience, and commitment to serving his clients. Graduating from UT School of Law with Honors, Carter is a much welcomed addition to the TBF Law Group's litigation and business transaction department.
Carter was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Drawn by the music and cultural scene and the Hill County, Carter first moved to Austin in the early 1990s to attend the University of Texas at Austin.
After graduating, Carter moved to Galveston to work as a newspaper reporter. For 10 years, he covered the courts, law enforcement, health care, and the island city’s colorful political scene, winning numerous awards and, more importantly, keeping his readers informed about the issues affecting their community.
Carter graduated from the University of Texas School Of Law with Honors. Additionally, Carter clerked in the Appellate Division of the Travis County District Attorney’s Office during and after law school, refining his litigation skills on dozens of cases including homicides, sexual assaults, and other felonies. Carter also clerked in the Criminal Prosecutions Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office before joining the TBF Law Group.
Carter’s past experience has equipped him with the skills necessary to represent Client’s skillfully in and out of the court room. At the Butler Firm, Carter primarily works with Clients in the areas of Business Litigation, Technology Litigation, and Business Transactional work.

Philip DeHart's practice is focused on complex bankruptcy litigation involving adversarial claims and representing secured creditors in Federal Bankruptcy Court. Philip has developed a multi-jurisdictional practice, spanning throughout the southeastern United States. Mr. DeHart provides direct representation to creditors and debtors and he serves as an outside consultant to non-bankruptcy law firms in navigating through the bankruptcy courts. Once a captain for the Pennslyvania Debate Team, Philip feels at home in the Courtroom where his natural ability to advocate for Clients combined and his knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code lets Philip's abilities shine.
Prior to joining the TBF Law Group, Mr. DeHart operated a solo practice representing individuals and entities in the Brazos Valley. Before coming to Texas, he was an associate at an Atlanta-based firm, handling a broad range of bankruptcy matters. Mr. DeHart graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law. As a student, he acted as a notes editor for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law. He is a proud alumnus of the Pennsylvania State University. Mr. DeHart is licensed to practice before all state courts in Texas and in Georgia. He also is licensed to practice before the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas and for the Northern District of Georgia.
